Got to get some wood in for the winter and for spring sugaring. We will supplement our current stock with Ash. Ash is a suitable hardwood for heating but has less BTU's than Oak or Maple. The good thig is that it contains less moisture than others and drys quickly. Great attritributes for wood being cut late in the season. We should be able to burn this stuff by late winter. The pine is being cut and stored for burning in the arch. This is what we use to produce maple syrup. We clear the floor of blowdowns and open space for new stuff to grow. We also get slabs from neighbor Mike's mill. All the side cuts from logs milled for lumber will be burnt in the arch to boil sap.
